Dark were his lights and his intentions

It was the summer of 2003, walking out of traffic court beaten and dejected as I reflected on the woe of my first speeding ticket. I swore at that moment I would never receive one again.

I did my due diligence and paid what I thought at the time was too much for my Valentine 1. Yesterday, during a spirited drive in my Nissan GTR it gave me the situational awareness I’ve come to depend upon. It was a lonely night on the highway and the radar locator pointed to a weak Ka behind. I didn’t see any headlights in my rearview, but trusting V1 as I do, I instinctively eased off the power pedal. The Ka was getting stronger.

This road is straight as a light beam, but I still didn’t see anything in the mirrors. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a silhouette approaching rapidly in the dark. It was an unmarked state trooper driving with his headlights off, hoping to bushwhack me!

This was just one V1 moment in nearly a V1 decade of stories. I came back to your website today to reminisce and say “thank you” for making situation awareness a part of my daily routine. Thanks again!
