My $799 Top-Of-The-Line Wifi-Enabled Detector Didn’t Make a Peep

Driving in a rally down the eastern seaboard just a few miles into North Carolina.  In my rearview mirror I see two cars from our pack slow way, way down.  My “flagship detector” mounted on my windshield, never made a sound.  Around 20 seconds later I was greeted by blue lights from a NC State Trooper who gladly awarded me with some roadside paperwork.

Now, had this ticket indicated LIDAR, I don’t think I would have been upset, but to see that the “radar” box had been checked, I was floored; my $799 wi-fi enabled “top of the line” detector didn’t make one peep. Shortly after, our group met up at a rest area off of I-74. The guys in the two cars that had slowed down informed me that the solitary “double-braap” Ka-hit that they got from their V1 Gen 2’s was all that was necessary for them to drop back.

I learned two things that afternoon; 1) the definition of “quick trigger” and; 2) the Valentine One is still the king of radar detectors.  If any of you guys at the VR office saw me haphazardly ripping the R8 out of my windshield yesterday in your parking lot, I hope it was worth a laugh or two. BTW, I have put around 700 miles on my new V1 already and have to say it has the best K band filtering of any detector I’ve ever seen. Keep up the great work.
