A Lonely Road and V1 Keeping It That Way

Beach Trip!  North Alabama to Panama City, Florida, taking the back highway “short-cuts.”  On two-lane US Hwy 231 between Sylacauga and Rockford.  This is real booneyville territory, there’s nothing out there but rolling hills and woods. Had my trusty V1 Gen2 mounted on the dash and tooling along about–why incriminate myself!–in a 55 zone.

At the top of a hill and I got a “blip,” then off when I went down into the valley. Thought “hmmm,” so I slowed to 65, then another “blip,” then gone when I went down to low ground again.  After about the fourth hill and at least four miles further, I had slowed to the legal limit and was getting a fairly strong signal even down in the valleys.

Topped the fifth hill and there he sat on the side of the highway, a full-grown Smokey Bear in the bushes. I was legal as I drove past, patting my V1 on the head.  I know I was five or six miles away with dense forest on either side when my V1 first detected him. I would NEVER give up my V1 Gen 2 for anything else. This is just one of many times it’s put a grin on my face.
